ORGANIZATION SUMMARY

The Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (CARAS) was formed in 1975 to preserve and enhance the Canadian music industry and to contribute towards higher artistic and industry standards. CARAS’ mandate is comprised of four key pillars: Educate through our music education charity MusiCounts’ programs and initiatives, Develop emerging artists through mentorship and development programs, Celebrate Canadian artists through The JUNO Awards and other year-round initiatives, and Honour music industry icons through the Canadian Music Hall of Fame

OVERALL POSITION 

Reporting to the Director of Events & Academy Operations, the successful candidate will be responsible for assisting the event manager with coordinating events during 2023 JUNO Week. Working alongside the Event Manager and Director of Events, the event coordinator will assist with planning leading up to JUNO Week and onsite event execution. 

EVENT RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee and execute the planning and logistics of select events on behalf of CARAS from start to finish
  • Operate as the internal point person for third-party suppliers
  • Assist with event coordination including, logistics and project management (location mapping, F&B coordination, AV, program and production schedule)
  • Assist in managing budgets, cost tracking and reporting
  • Research venues, suppliers and contractors, ensuring a range of diverse and inclusive representation
  • Handle and schedule rehearsals, compile run of show and production schedules
  • Manage on-site event coordination and production
  • Continuously and proactively look for ways to strengthen event execution
  • Collaborate with cross-functional groups both internally and externally

SKILLS REQUIREMENTS

  • Experience leading and executing high-profile, public-facing events while managing a diverse portfolio of events
  • Well-developed working knowledge of the Canadian music and events industry
  • Advocate for emerging talent and diversity 
  • Demonstrated ability to think creatively and be solution-oriented
  • Must have proven commitment to delivering excellence in client service
  • Willingness to work flexible work hours based on event schedule 
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully manage multiple projects and competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Team player and focused on cross-functional collaboration

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS

  • 2+ years experience in event planning and production
  • Experience with and knowledge of the Canadian music industry 
  • French as a second language is an asset
  • Proficient with Google Suite (Docs, Sheets, Gmail, Chat etc) and project management software, (Wrike).
  • Passion for Canadian music and culture
